Introducing Britannia Village and TARDIS Quay!
Just an update for London Village stragglers who are unaware of where London Village finally migrated to. I apologise for not doing this sooner – some feedback from TWO visitors today nudged me into doing this! We now run two sims at a more affordable cost!
The first is the social sim, Britannia Village – this is a social sim, with the HA! Adult club, a small NLS shop, New Resident Center, an exclusive English church, Stonehenge, a Kasterborous.com hangout Underhenge, Tower of London, unique English pub, promenade, beach, 7Seas and a variety of picturesque spots to hang out in. We have a website for this new social haunt: http://britanniavillage.wordpress.com/
or visit us direct at:

Secondly we have a commercial sim called TARDIS Quay which is the NLS Mainstore sim. This is where NLS and assocated businesses and affiliates can be found. NLS has a console shop and exterior shop, plus a public TARDIS (a classic nls canon build) and demo rezzers for exteriors and consoles. There’s an NLS plus shop for T45 users, freebies and gadgets. You’ll also find stores for Bad Wolf, Kershaws Textures, HA! products and Novatech (coming soon).
While Britannia Village represents relaxed England, TARDIS Quay is more based on London Docks, as such the London Village iconic (and exclusive) Tower Bridge resides.
The direct URL is: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/South%20Park/150/156/24
As always NLS products can be found on the net at www.tardisnetwork.com
Both sims have easy sim names to remember. Britannia Village is Green Park sim, TARDIS Quay is South Park sim!
See you there!
100th post… last day of the Festival and we announce the end!
London Village closes tonight after 5 successful years of fun, events, and a little mayhem.
After much consideration, we have decided to try something new and a little less intense (and expensive!) We could carry on in the comfort zone of a successful project like London Village, but both artistically and with a desire for a little less financial pressure we have collectively decided to take a step into a new future!
There are a lot of people, too many to name, I would like to thank for their hard work and dedication to the project that has been New London / London Village since 2008. Some of those people have long since moved on, some are still on the team, but every single person who made a contribution to the sim, I thank you.
To all our regular visitors, I thank you too, for without you there would have been very little point to London Village and certainly no soul.
We hope many of you will join us in our new home (which we will open very soon!) There you will find there some familiarities, a slower pace, and new areas to enjoy.
NLS will be unaffected, bar a change of location for the main store.
Thank you all for making this years London Village Festival another hugely successful event! Join us at the Festival tonight, for our final night, as we say goodbye to London Village in style!
– Kat Kassner
Kat’s announcement marks our 100th post on this blog. For myself, I came to London Village in 2009 a year or so late to the party. It’s been a great place, with a lot of great memories, though anyone who knows us, knows that we’ve found it harder and harder to find new visions for the sim, so while it’s a sad announcement, it’s a fresh beginning. The decision didn’t come lightly, and we’ve been preparing for this moment for the past few weeks – leaving you with the best Festival the sim could offer as a goodbye! Thanks to Roxanne, Sinji and Holo for the music for Sunday and Geoff for the 7Seas fishing! Well over 60 people were here in sim this evening. Great success and a lot of appreciation for the sim from visitors and regulars. Times change, our lives have changed, priorities have changed. Change is all about that. I’m heartened to see people understand that! Thank you.
This blog will finish with the sim, but stay up for posterity. Thank you all for reading! See you on the next project!

London Village Reborn!
I lovely little sim tribute/review from Janey Bracken at the Virtually London (Lite) blog! It’s quite an interesting post, as Janey published the review a couple of weeks back, and from what we can guess, it must have been the last day or so before the sim was torn up, making this quite a fitting tribute to the Sim-That-Was!

The reasons for the change were creative to some degree, or perhaps the opposite, finding a new way forward was becoming frustrating and eating up too much time our of our first and second lives. On top of that there were other stresses, keeping the sim afloat financially has been for the past few years done by the very community who enjoy it, through purchases from our NLS store, but keeping those purchases going, 365 days a year, to meet the just under 3000L a day tier, was burning the shop runners out too. It’s a lot of work. Considerations to revamp, downsize, or simply retire were consider. A rush to sort the situation created more creative cul-de-sacs and so, for a time, the sim was laid horridly bare, several designs had been planned and failed, even a move had been considered.
London Village laid waste
Making the most of what’s left of London Village
But the beautiful thing about an established community is it doesn’t bolt. And through thick and thin, despite for a week there being just one building on an island, people came. Boats, were moored, people enjoyed the sim. They kept going, and so did we, finding ways to improve the geography, take some of the heat off the shop owners, and basically find new life and creativity to our theme. So now we are in the final stages of finishing of London Village’s latest facelift. NLS has a bigger store, the ground level is new and improved and everyone on staff feels a little fresher than before! Do pop by! http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/TARDIS/139/110/23
